Volunteering on Pomona Island

The Trust is a community-led organisation and relies on volunteers to help restore Pomona and Rona Islands.

How do I get involved?

Trap checks on Pomona and Rona Islands are organised on a regular basis. If you are interested in helping us, please e-mail

pomona.rona@gmail.com

Note that trap checks are often organised at short notice to take advantage of a good weather forecast.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone aged 16 or over can volunteer. A good level of fitness is required as the terrain is rough and there are steep sections on the islands. The work is often very physical but also rewarding.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of our volunteers is important to the Trust. A list of essential gear is provided to volunteers before each trap check. Volunteers will be given a safety briefing and task instructions at the start of the day. Volunteers are equipped with a UHF radio and PLB for use in emergencies. There is limited cell-phone coverage on the islands.

Long Term Volunteer Opportunities

The Trust does NOT offer long term volunteer opportunities as all of our work takes place on single days throughout the year.

Alternatively... make a donation

Donations are vital for us to continue our work. Whatever you are able to give will be most gratefully received. Find out more and make a donation.
